IRAN: CORONAVIRUS FATALITIES IN 318 CITIES EXCEEDS 41,700 CATEGORIES //  Statements of Maryam Rajavi The clerical regime continues to arrest young people and supporters of the PMOI/MEK and hand down heavy prison sentences for political prisoners despite the coronavirus crisis.

The novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, has taken the lives of over 40,500 people throughout Iran,  Iran, May 10, 2020— Over 40,500 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 315 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran ( PMOI/MEK ) as of Sunday afternoon local time, May 10. The official death count declared by the regime is 6,640, less than a sixth of the actual figure. The death toll in various provinces include: 6,790 in Tehran, 2,720 in Gilan, 2,165 in Khuzestan, 1,230 in West Azerbaijan, 1070 in Lorestan, 1065 in Hamedan, 975 in Kermanshah, 925 in Semnan and 446 in Kerman. Former Iranian Justice Minister Defends 1988 Massacre of Political Prisoners 30 JULY 2019   By Jubin Katiraie Iran’s former justice minister has defended the  1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners  in the media recently. Mostafa Pourmohammadi, who served in the cabinet of President Hassan Rouhani until 2017, told state-run Mosalas Magazine that the regime was “at war” and should not be expected to follow “legal procedures and consider citizen’s and human rights”.
