Nasrin Javadi, Labor Activist Sentenced To 7 Years In Prison, 74 Lashes Aug 21, 2019  Nasrin Javadi (Azam Khezri), a female labor activist who was arrested on International Labor Day in Tehran, was sentenced to 7 years in prison and 74 lashes. Her trial was held at the Revolutionary Court in Tehran on August 6, 2019. According to the verdict, Ms. Nasrin Javadi was sentenced to 5 years in prison on charges of “association and collusion against national security”, one year in prison on charges of “propaganda against the state”, and one year in prison, 74 lashes, banning the use of smartphones and banning activities in political and social parties and groups on charges of “disrupting public order “. Atefeh Rangriz Writes Of Horrific Situation In Qarchak Prison Aug 16, 2019 Political prisoner Atefeh Rangriz, who was  arrested during the Labor Day demonstration  in Tehran, released an open letter on August 15, 2019, describing the situation of Qarchak Prison in Varamin: “Qarchak Prison is the nickname of hell.” Qarchak Prison, also known as Shahr-e Rey Detention Center, is  where female prisoners are held . There is no separation of crimes in this prison and political prisoners are held along with ordinary criminals and dangerous prisoners. Monireh Arabshahi: I Feel Like A Free Bird Aug 12, 2019 _ Mrs. Monireh Arabshahi was recently sentenced to 16 years in prison for not covering her hair in a women-only subway train while giving flowers to women on International Women’s Day. Arrested along with her daughter  Yasaman Aryani  on April 11, 2019, and now  detained in Qarchak Prison in Varamin , Monireh Arabshahi sent out an open letter on her birthday on August 3, 2019. About the ongoing social problems in Iran and particularly, women’s double hardships, she wrote that all humans can be aware of what the next day brings with the steps they take toward tomorrow. Her letter is an example of the awareness and  sacrifice of a generation of Iranian women  who are determined to challenge the mullahs’ misogynistic dictatorship.
