Fatemeh Amini, Symbol Of Perseverance And Steadfastness Aug 16, 2019 There are people who make up cornerstones on which a long history of resistance is built for millions to follow. There are grim wills that make the enemy fall on its knees and overcome its cruelty and savagery. There are humans that look on to the horizons, calmly sing the beautiful song of life and then become eternal. Fatemeh Amini was one such human being. Fatemeh was born in the city of  Mashhad  (northeastern Iran) to a religious family who was political and progressive. She, too, started her political activities against the Shah’s dictatorship in 1962 when she was studying at Mashhad University’s School of Literature. Soon, she and her friends founded the Association of Progressive Women. Fatemeh graduated from university in 1964 and began teaching in girls’ high schools in Mashhad. 70 Female Cyclists Arrested in Iran Written by  Mohammad Sadat Khansari  on  01 August 2019 . Seventy female cyclists were arrested in Tehran’s Vali-Asr Square for breaking the Regime’s mandatory hijab laws, according to Judiciary spokesman Gholam Hossein Ismaeli on Tuesday. He didn’t say anything about the timing of the arrests, only saying that the women had broken the rules of “chastity and hijab”. Previously, Massoumeh Ebtekar, a deputy in family and women’s affairs ministry, had earlier  said  that there were “no rules in Iran which could prevent women from riding bicycles”. Presumably, she meant that women would have to wear the mandatory dress code – a head-to-toe black veil called “chador” –while riding, which would be impossible. It should be noted that 70% of Iranian women do not believe in the forced veil, which is according to research done last July by the Office of Cultural Studies of the Research Center in the mullahs’ parliament. New Report on Women's Rights in Iran Written by  Mansoureh Galestan  on  30 July 2019 . The Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) has published a new report looking in women’s rights in Iran, specifically the clerical regime’s violations of those rights and the brave activists fighting for those rights. The report,  entitled  “A Glance At Women’s Rights In Iran Under The Mullahs’ Rule”, was published earlier this month and looks into the rights of women across all sectors in Iran. The Women’s Committee said that a reliable measure for freedom in any society is to look at the situation of women, explaining that the initial crackdown on women’s rights by regime founder Ruhollah Khomeini was a “prelude to absolute suppression of everyone’s rights and freedoms in Iran”. Women pray for Iranian soldiers killed during the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war at the Imamzadeh Saleh shrine in Tehran on August 2, 2017. (Reuters) By Reza Shafiee, Special to Al Arabiya English Saturday, 30 December 2017 Text size  A   A   A Every year, the day November 25 comes as a grim reminder that we have a long way to go for achieving gender parity. There are still many countries in the world where women cannot fully exercise the right to shape their own destiny. Violence against women is another detestable vestige of the most patriarchal societies inherited by our generation. It may seem that we have come a long way since the Dark Ages, but there are still some countries in the world that have made little progress in according equal rights to women and men. There is even a country where misogyny is the order of the day and where women have no legal rights. It may come as a shock to many, but Iran continues to run in this way. The Ir...
