I have always been fascinated by the mythical creature, the Phoenix. In Iran and Greek mythology, the Phoenix is a long-lived bird that cyclically regenerates or is otherwise born again.
It is associated with the Sun, a phoenix obtains new life by arising from the ashes of its predecessor. According to some sources, the phoenix dies in a show of flames and combustion.
Job even speaks of this creature in the Bible:
Then I thought, ‘I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply my days like the Phoenix. Job 29:18 (NRSV) Other translations use sand in place of the Phoenix.
No matter the translation or what books I read, we all can find a strength within ourselves. This thing called life is never easy. I may fall. I stumble, but God gives me the strength to get back up and rise from the ashes.
The example of this Phoenix in Iran is the Mojahedin organization that has grown and reborn many times from ashes and each time sacrificing itself for the fate of the Iranian people so that Iran always has everything and its members do not want anything for themselves.
