Lordegan protest continues for the 3rd day as people protest the regime's denial of its role in infecting residents to HIV virus

Iran, October 7, 2019—Based on reports received from residents of Lordegan in Chaharmahal & Bakhtiary Province in southern Iran, the city was engulfed in a complete crackdown and unofficial martial law on Sunday, October 6. The Iranian regime stationed main battle tanks at the city’s entrances and exits. Regime authorities also launched numerous patrols across the city and locals are saying this is a sign of how officials are deeply concerned about the deep resent against the mullahs’ regime felt among the locals across this highly restive town.
The Iranian regime dispatched a convoy of its officials, including the Chaharmahal & Bakhtiary Province governor and numerous health officials to the village of Chenar Mahmoudi near Lordegan. The locals, still furious after Saturday’s protests, “welcomed” this delegation by attacking the convoy with bricks and stones.

On Saturday afternoon, during a gathering and demonstration held by the people of Isfahan in solidarity with the protests in Lordegan, a brave woman stood up to the regime’s oppressive state security forces and forced them to fall back from their position.
“… where are you from that you show no sympathy for Iranians?” this courageous woman screamed at the regime’s highly equipped forces. This young woman was highly praised by the crowd, most of them being women, resulting in the gathering participants at the scene to begin chanting, “Bakhtiari's would rather die than live in shame.” The Bakhtiaries are one of Iran’s many ethnicities, living in mostly the western and southern parts of the country.
In further oppressive measures, the Iranian regime imposed an internet blackout on the people of Lordegan in their desperate effort to prevent news of the protests from reaching the outside world. A number of people have also been arrested by the regime’s intelligence and security forces.
In the city of Jolfa in East Azerbaijan Province, northwest Iran, employees of the local gas pipeline company held a gathering in solidarity with the people of Lordegan. These workers held a large poster in their gathering reading, “Chenar of Lordegan is not alone,” referring to the village near Lordegan where nearly 300 locals were infected with the HIV virus due to regime authorities’ negligence in using dirty syringes.

Following the expansion of the protests in Lordegan into an all-out anti-regime uprising spreading across the town, and youths in various cities holding gatherings and marches in solidarity with Lordegan, the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) commander in Chaharmahal & Bakhtiary Province said, “The [PMOI/MEK] is present on the ground in the unrest of Lordegan,” in reference to the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).
“These improper measures taking place in the town of Lordegan were not carried out by the people of Chenar Mahmoudi,” said Ali Mohammad Akbari on Saturday. “The locals of this area do not welcome such actions. The enemy is behind these negative circumstances against the state’s interests. Those individuals who had covered their faces and were guiding the locals, they were [regime opponents] who had come to create unrest in the name of Chenar Mahmoudi’s residents.”
It is worth noting that thousands of people in Lordegan rushed to the support of the residents in the Chenar Mahmoudi village and held a massive rally on Saturday against the mullahs’ regime. Angry youths set fire to the offices of the local mayor and the Friday prayer Imam, known as the representative of the Iranian regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Other state institutions were also attacked and set ablaze.

Iranian opposition President Maryam Rajavi, head of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), hailed the youths and people of Lordegan. Mrs. Rajavi also called on youths across Iran, especially in Chaharmahal & Bakhtiary Province and local areas to rise in support of the demonstrators and the victims of the mullahs’ inhumane policies.
