Iran, October 16, 2019—Dozens of students in Tehran’s Science and Industries University held a night gathering on Tuesday, October 15, following a number of food poisoning cases after eating food from the campus self-service section. At least 60 students were reportedly transferred to a hospital until early Wednesday morning hours, local time. The gathering was held as students in the male section of the dormitory began voicing complaints about the “horrible food conditions” served on campus.
The protesting students were seen marching and continuing their demonstration in the early hours of Wednesday morning towards the campus management building. Ambulances were constantly transferring the food poisoned students to hospitals as their classmates were continuing their protest gathering.

The mullahs’ regime in Iran is known for caring less about the education of this country’s younger generation. Back in December 2018, a horrible fire incident in a girls’ elementary school in Zahedan, Sistan Baluchistan province, caused the death of four innocent schoolgirls. Three of the victims died in the first hours that followed the incident. The fourth died a slow and painful death in front of the tearful eyes of her parents 40 hours after she was taken to the hospital.

In other reports, Iran’s already deprived population is also suffering from a shortage of teachers. Monday, September 23rd marked the beginning of the new school year in Iran. 14.6 million Iranian schoolchildren have registered to go to school.

However, Iran’s schools and education system are not ready to receive these students. Iran’s schools are worn out, non-standard, cramped, and jampacked with schoolchildren. There’s a shortage of teachers and education workers. And the discrimination between services provided to large cities and rural areas makes the situation even worse.
The poor and needy are in even worse conditions as their children are completely deprived of any education at all.
While the Iranian regime from day one of its establishment claimed to be a heaven for the poor and needy, it’s the poor who suffer the most under its rule, causing the rise of the super-rich and the dirt-poor classes among the Iranian society.
The Islamic republic’s constitution considers education until the end of high school a basic right that should be provided for free. In practice, however, public schools have lost all their credibility and quality.
Competitive public schools, or as they’re called in Iran, exemplary public schools, are funded by the government. However, these schools have very difficult entrance examinations that exclude the vast majority of the country’s students.
