Iran, October 23, 2019—Students of the Arts and Architecture School of Mazandaran University in Babolsar, a city in northern Iran, held a rally on Tuesday, October 22, protesting the transfer of Caspian Sea waters to the city of Semnan, located hundreds of kilometers away. They were seen holding signs reading, “No to transferring Caspian Sea waters.” On Saturday, a group of environmental activists in Babolsar held a similar rally on the beaches of this city.

Villagers near the city of Miandoab in West Azerbaijan Province held a protest rally on Tuesday, October 22, preventing the transfer of city sewage to their area. The mayor of Miandoab literally threatened the villagers. “If needed, I’ll use bulldozers to run you over and transfer the sewage water here,” he said.
