Gohardasht Prison Carries Out Executions

  Gohardasht Prison carries out executions, at least 30 in August. One Human Rights organization summed it up as ‘one execution every day.’ The No to execution and prison organization reminds that Iran holds the highest number of executions. This is compared to the number of citizens it executes compared to other countries in the world.

  Recently in Gohardasht prison, some ten prisoners have been sent to solitary
  confinements in order to be executed. It’s known by Iranian Human Rights’ experts that Iran executes in secret. More than a third of those executed have been carried out secretly. Some of these executions inside prison have not been announced by government media.

  Still, the highest number of executions count up for Rajaishahr Prison. This prison is also known as Gohardasht. It’s located in the city of Karaj approximately 20 km west of Tehran. 
  Since yesterday ten Rajaishahr prisoners on the death row have been transferred to solitary confinements. This is always known as a sign that will be followed by execution. HRANA reports one prisoner to be Shahab Taghizadeh but others are not recognized.

  Many Iranian organizations including one leading opposition movement call on Iran to end the death penalty. Amnesty Internation has also given a strong voice over halt of execution of minors and juveniles. One recent world attempt is still to stop the execution of Ramin Hossein Panahi. He is from a Kurd family who is now held at Gohardasht Prison. His family and friends gather outside the prison to protest for his life.
